|Baby Care Basics|
This one evening course focuses on teaching first-time parents all about newborn care. Increase your confidence and abilities with instruction on bathing and diapering, circumcision care, cord care, feeding choices and identifying illness. Your instructor will also share information on infant growth and development, baby communication skills, sleep cycles, and safety measures. Fee: $45/couple.
|Big Brother/Big Sister (4-10 year olds)|
For children who are "expecting" a new brother/sister. The children are involved in many activities including a special tour of the maternity unit. Parents are requested to stay with the children for the class. *Note: children should be at least 4 years old, but older children can attend with younger siblings. One class session. Fee: $20 for 1 sibling, $15/each additional sibling.
Provides guidance & gives new learning skills for breastfeeding. Topics include benefits of human milk, breast structure, techniques of breastfeeding, family adjustment, and mother"s nutrition. Support persons are encouraged to attend the classes with the mothers. Fee: $40/couple.
This workshop is for dads by dads. Our returning dads come back with their babies to share their experience from the last stages of pregnancy through the big day and the first few months. Topics include responsible fatherhood, mom's changes, making time, newborn care, safety, your concerns, finances, parents and in-laws, and community resources. This course should be considered a must for all parents, grandparents and babysitters. Infant CPR Anytime is for new parents, grandparents, family members and anyone who wants to learn lifesaving infant CPR and choking skills. It is not for certification purposes. Skills are taught in a dynamic group environment by using the AHA's research-proven practice-while-watching technique, which provides students with the most hands-on CPR practice time possible. Fee: $50/couple.
An opportunity for you to see, first-hand, our Labor & Delivery and Mother-Baby Units. Registration is required and limited to two people per registration. Due to our infection control policy, no children under the age of 13 are permitted on the patient units for this Tour.
Prenatal Yoga is suitable for pregnant women in any trimester.
Topics covered are: physical and emotional changes of pregnancy, the role of the labor coach, techniques for relaxation and breathing, variations in labor and delivery, cesarean birth and pain relief options. Plan to finish this class approximately 4 weeks in advance of your due date. Available in a 4-week series, or an all-day option. Fee: $75/couple.
